Steve came to First Option Mortgage continuing a successful career by being a trusted advisor to many clients over the years. Born and raised in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Steve attended Ball State and Purdue University where he studied Political Science and Telecommunications. After college, Steve began a 10 year career as a mentor, sales trainer, and manager in the retail jewelry industry. After the economic downturn in 2008, Steve decided to focus on the financial well being of his customers and began a new career as a Licensed Personal Banker in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. 11 years later, his wife Shannon, was presented the opportunity to come back home to West Lafayette and work at Purdue University. Steve transferred to the West Lafayette/ Lafayette area and took on the roles of a General Manager and Mortgage Loan Originator.

Steve learned about First Option Mortgage from a long time friend and fellow Crawfordsville native, Jay Dee Flynn, who introduced him to the magnificent team in Fishers, In. Impressed with the shared Indiana values and customer centered approach to mortgage lending that First Option have perfected and implemented since 2006, Steve realized that he had to be a part of this team. Knowing that the greater Lafayette area would benefit greatly from a focused lending team with a customer first approach, First Option Mortgage put together a plan to expand and open a branch in downtown Lafayette at the beautiful and historic Life Building. Steve and his full service team are excited to bring personalized attention, extensive mortgage knowledge, and customer care back home.

Steve is a service minded person and enjoys volunteering in many community programs, such as Junior Achievement, to help teach elementary students about personal finance and the economy. Also, his family hosts a Lafayette Aviator baseball player in the summer, as well as coaching his youngest son’s baseball team.

Steve spends his free time with his wife of 20 years Shannon and their 3 boys and 1 girl that range from 21 to 5 years old. His oldest son is 21 and lives in Cincinnati. His second son is 19, is currently serving in the Air Force and will be coming back home to go to school. His only daughter is 14, and will be a Freshman at Harrison High School where she is a Cheerleader. His youngest boy is 5, is starting Kindergarten and plays every sport that he can. You will see the Stemick family at local concerts, Purdue sporting events and most of the Aviator games.
